On Saturday [13 January] night, Ant released a statement regarding the speculation that has been surrounding his marriage since his stint in rehab last summer.
It read: “In response to the recent speculation in the media, Ant is very sad to announce that, after 11 years, he is ending his marriage to Lisa McPartlin.
“Ant asks for privacy at this difficult time, for both himself, Lisa and their immediate families. No further statement will be made.”
Lisa is yet to comment on the split but has liked a series of optimistic tweets on her social media account, with one reading: “Going through difficult times we must always be reminded that better times are ahead.
“For a beautiful person like yourself it will be tough but keep your chin up and you will bloom again.”
It was previously reported that Ant plans to offer Lisa half of his £60million fortune in the divorce settlement, with the star allegedly keen to ensure that the Strictly Come Dancing make-up artist is “financially and emotionally supported”.
Ant first met Lisa in 1994, when Lisa was in the band Deuce, just five years after Ant and his co-star Dec first found fame in CBBC drama Byker Grove.
The tied the knot in 2006.
