Lisa Armstrong trying to stay positive amid reports Ant McPartlin will offer half his fortune in divorce settlement

At the weekend, Ant McPartlin confirmed that he and his estranged wife, Lisa Armstrong, were ending their marriage after 11 years.

Lisa is yet to publicly comment on the announcement but appears to be trying to keep positive, with the Strictly Come Dancing make-up artist ‘liking’ a series of optimistic tweets on her social media page.

One of the messages that Lisa liked reads: “Going through difficult times we must always be reminded that better times are ahead. For a beautiful person like yourself it will be tough but keep your chin up and you will bloom again”.

She also liked messages praising her “dignity”, including: “I wanted to send you enormous amounts of love and luck for the future.

“You have remained so dignified in the face of the media – you are a true inspiration”.

The Twitter activity comes amid reports that Ant is willing to offer Lisa half of his £60million fortune in their divorce settlement, with the Geordie TV presenter said to be keen to maintain a good relationship with his ex.

A source told The Sun: “He want things to be amicable and doesn’t want a drawn out court battle with Lisa.

“He still views her as a best friend and wants them both to be able to walk away from the marriage positively.”

A separate insider added: “She is not motivated by money and doesn’t want a fight. But this was a real shock to her so she’s not going to rush things either.”

Ant and Lisa’s marriage is thought to have been struggling ever since Ant entered rehab for a secret prescription painkiller addiction in June last year, with the star previously praising his wife as he confessed that he had put her “through hell”.

Lisa was forced to hit back at accusations that she wasn’t “standing by” her husband from angry fans, with it since being reported that Ant is the one who wants the divorce.

An official spokesperson for Ant said in a statement that was released on Saturday [13 January] night: “In response to the recent speculation in the media, Ant is very sad to announce that, after 11 years, he is ending his marriage to Lisa McPartlin.

“Ant asks for privacy at this difficult time, for both himself, Lisa and their immediate families. No further statement will be made.”

The pair first met in 1994, when Lisa was in the band Deuce, just five years after Ant and his co-star Declan Donnelly first found fame in CBBC drama Byker Grove.

The pair tied the knot in 2006.
