Ant McPartlin’s ex-wife Lisa Armstrong has broken her silence after McPartlin announced that he has become a dad for the first time.

The TV presenter, 48, took to social media on Tuesday to reveal that he and second wife Anne-Marie Corbett, 46, had welcomed a little boy named Wilder Patrick.

Makeup artist Armstrong, 47, was married to the Geordie TV favourite for 11 years before they called time on their relationship in 2018 with a messy divorce.

Animosity between the pair seems to have remained, particularly with Corbett having previously worked as the former couples' PA.

Adding salt to the wounds, McPartlin has never made a secret of his desire to become a dad, and once opened up about struggling to conceive with Armstrong.

Following his baby news, she shared a sad quote on her own social media about facing "battles".

Taking to her Instagram stories, she posted an image which read: "Be proud of how you have been handling these past few months.

"The silent battles you've fought, the moments you've had to humble yourself, the times you've wiped your own tears. Celebrate your strength."

A source close to Armstrong said she was done with being angry and has done "a lot of healing over the past few years".

Speaking to OK!, they said: "Lisa knows Ant is ready to move on with the next chapter of his life - she doesn’t want to be angry anymore.

"She's done a lot of healing over the past few years and spent so much time being upset and angry about everything.

"It has been exhausting but she has done a lot of work on herself. It seems everyone is having a fresh start with the end of the show and Ant’s new chapter in his life, so Lisa wants to make sure she’s in a good place."

She recently showed support for her former spouse ahead of his and TV partner Declan Donnelly’s final Saturday Night Takeaway show.

Armstrong did this by liking a post that hailed Ant and Dec as "simply the best" in reference to their illustrious showbiz careers.
