Anthony Davis and his wife, Marlen Polanco Davis, embarked on a new adventure together when they welcomed their first child, daughter Nala Davis, in November 2017.

The private pair have since welcomed two more kids, although they haven't revealed their sons' names or birth dates. While Anthony and Marlen keep their family out of the spotlight, the Los Angeles Lakers star has opened up about being a husband and father.

"The greatest luxury in life is family. I think no matter what you go through, your family is always going to be there," he told Haute Living in 2019. "You can get into it with them — argue with, complain, go through a low point in your life, have something great or something bad going on — they're always going to be there."

Anthony added, "That's why I'm big on family. No matter what I do or what I have, I know my family's not going to change; they're always going to be there for me. Even when we fuss and fight, I know I can always count on them."

Here is everything to know about Anthony Davis' daughter, Nala Davis.

She was born in 2017

While the origin of Anthony and Marlen's relationship isn't known, the couple have been together since at least 2017, when they welcomed Nala in November.

A few years later, the family experienced special milestones in 2021, including Nala becoming an older sister when Anthony and Marlen welcomed a baby boy. His name has been kept under wraps, but Anthony confirmed in June 2021 that he and his wife had "a son on the way."

The couple have not revealed the exact date of birth, but he appears to have been born before their September 2021 nuptials. They also welcomed a second son in 2022, but like his older brother, his name is unknown.

The NBA star shared the news during an interview with Spectrum News 1 in September 2022, when he said that "adding another to the family" was the highlight of his summer.

“A girl and two boys now, so I got a team,” Anthony continued. "I'm outnumbered now, we're outnumbered now. Amazing, blessed kids are a blessing, so I'm happy to have three of them."

The boys are rarely photographed in public, but they have made several appearances. Anthony spent some time with his elder son before a game between the Lakers and the Golden State Warriors at Crypto.com Arena in March 2023.

His younger son made his debut at the NBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis in February 2024. Anthony sat with the little one perched on his lap during interviews.

The Davis family is fairly private and lowkey, but the professional basketball player loves spending time with his daughter when he's not practicing or competing.

The two sat courtside at an L.A. Sparks versus Chicago Sky game in June 2023, where fans marveled at the uncanny resemblance between the father-daughter duo. The following month, they were spotted again at the 2023 WNBA All-Star Game in Las Vegas.

A few years prior, Nala also accompanied her father to the Los Angeles premiere of Space Jam: A New Legacy in July 2021. She posed on the purple carpet with her dad — who voiced The Brow in the animated film — while holding a stuffed Bugs Bunny.

Nala stole the show during her dad’s red carpet interview at the Space Jam premiere when she revealed a hidden talent.

As her dad shared his love of Looney Tunes during an interview with Extra!, Nala stepped in with a spot-on Bugs Bunny impersonation.

“Eh, what’s up, doc?” she said while holding a stuffed Bugs Bunny toy.

It turns out that the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.

“My parents always called me an actor,” Anthony said about his growing film career. “And I did do Barbershop before, but to be on this level? I never thought that I’d be in Space Jam.”

In the midst of the 2019-2020 NBA season, the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the U.S. and changed the way games looked. Teams played out the rest of the season and the playoffs in a bio-secure compound nicknamed the “bubble” at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

With teams scheduled for a stay of at least six weeks, the league added elements to maintain a sense of normalcy, including arcade games and barber shops. Still, with safety and social distancing paramount, there was concern about the potential mental toll on players.

When athletes were allowed to have guests in the playoffs, Anthony was joined by Marlen and Nala, who he admitted made a significant difference to his mindset.

“When you go back home, if this was a regular scenario, you would go back home and see your family ... you kind of just take your mind away from the game. And having my family here, it definitely helps,” he explained in a 2020 interview, per Essence.

Anthony continued, “But it’s still hard to sleep. It’s still hard not to think about. Even though it takes the edge off a little bit, you’re super eager to just get back on the floor and get ready for the next game. But I think my family being here definitely helps me tremendously.”

The Lakers went on to win the NBA championship that season.

Anthony received a sweet surprise during the Lakers championship ring ceremony in December 2020.

Nala appeared in a video with her mom, Marlen, and grandparents, Anthony Davis Sr. and Erainer Davis, to congratulate her dad on his career milestone.

"Nala and I are extremely happy and proud to present you tonight with your first ring. We are so proud of you," Marlen said with Nala sitting on her lap. "We love you."

She had a sweet interaction with Kobe Bryant

The death of L.A. Lakers legend Kobe Bryant in January 2020 was a devastating loss for members of the NBA community and Anthony has one memory of the basketball icon that’s particularly close to his heart.

He shared the story with YouTuber FaZe JSmooth in July 2023.

“I was at his gym, Mamba Academy, out in Thousand Oaks, and I just had my daughter," Anthony recalled. "Brought her to the gym — I was working out, and he was there that day — and she was maybe seven months, eight months."

He continued, “He grabbed her and she never really went to anybody, but she just had so much joy and she was so happy, smiling, laughing with him.”

Now that Nala is a bit older, Anthony has shown her video of the interaction as well as photos of himself and Bryant throughout the years.

“Now anybody she shows the house, she walks past the pictures and says, ‘This is my daddy’s friend, and this is my uncle, Uncle Kobe,’ ” he said.
