Antrim star Ryan Murray has been hit with a 12-week ban arising from an incident during the recent Tailteann Cup win over Fermanagh at Brewster Park.

The Saffrons fought back from being seven points down to defeat the Erne County in the quarter-finals with Cathal Hynds scoring a late goal to secure a 1-11 to 0-11 win.

Andy McEntee’s side subsequently lost out to Laois in Sunday’s Tailteann Cup semi-final at Croke Park.

Murray hasn’t featured for Antrim in 2024 as he continues his rehab from a cruciate knee injury and wasn’t on the match-day squad for the Fermanagh game.

Yet, he was cited for a category four offence of “physical interference with an opposing player” with a 12-week ban proposed.

The Lámh Dhearg clubman requested a personal hearing last week, but the GAA’s Hearing Committee found the infraction proven meaning Murray will miss the first three-months of Antrim’s 2025 season.

He has the option of appealing the decision and, if still unsuccessful, bringing a case to the DRA.
