'Don't call people from the Valleys turkeys': Two Welsh men in heated row over Brexit on TV

Two Welsh men were caught on camera having an intense row over Brexit with the Remainer of the two claiming “it’s like turkeys voting for Christmas.”

The pair were discussing the Brexit referendum with BBC Wales when their argument became heated and the Leave voter said the UK should not be afraid of a no-deal Brexit because “this country fought a world war.”

The Remain-supporter compared Brexit to "like Turkeys voting for Christmas" because "people who live in the Valleys are getting more from the EU than anybody else."

The Leave-backer than scolded him for calling people from the Valleys turkeys. "I'm a Valley boy" he said.

Wales’ referendum result reflected that of the rest of the UK, with 52.5 per cent voting to leave and 47.5 per cent voting remain.

During the interview, the Remainer said: "If you look at Wales, it amazes me that the people in the valleys, who are getting more from the EU than anybody else, actually voted to come out.

"It's like turkeys voting for Christmas."

But the leave voter responded: “What if it becomes non-conclusive again? Do we have another referendum?

“Why are you afraid of a no-deal? This country fought a world war. We raised from the ashes.

“This fear project that they’ve got, don’t worry about it.

“Britain has got the technology, the ability and the people to rebuild.

“We don’t need Europe.”

The Prime Minister will now face a vote of no confidence in the government on Wednesday evening after she tackles the Commons at Prime Minister’s Questions.
