Bellerin's form has been below his usual high standards in recent weeks, with Arsenal fans suggesting something of a reverse Samson effect was taking place as the defender's hair and beard grew longer with every passing disappointment on the field.
The 22-year-old took to Snapchat yesterday to show himself in the barbers' chair as Arsenal prepare to take on Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday, with many fans breathing a (premature) sigh of relief that Bellerin's trim would restore him to the swashbuckling right back of last season.
However, Bellerin's Snapchat message was all an elaborate ruse, with pictures from Arsenal's final training session showing the Spaniard has had his hair braided ahead of meeting Pep Guardiola's side in west London.
Needless to say, Bellerin's new look has had a mixed reaction on Twitter.

Bellerin had the second best hair in the PL, only second to Giroud. Now he has the worst hairstyle in all 3 divisions.— Asad. (@Mesuturbation) April 22, 2017
Atleast Bellerin's trim is more aerodynamic. Expecting him to be a lot more faster— ㅤ (@ffsharry) April 22, 2017
Bellerin should have consulted Ramsey before making a risky hair decision. When Ramsey last did it, he had a world class Euros— XXIX (@CentraIRamsey) April 22, 2017
