'It looks like the end of the world': Twitter reacts to armageddon conspiracy theories
As millions watched the total solar eclipse, Twitter users discussed conspiracy theories about the end of the world and a secret planet known as 'Nibiru'.
Some conspiracy theorists believe the Great American Eclipse will signal the beginning of the apocalypse.
David Meade, author of 'Planet X – The 2017 Arrival', asserts the planet Nibiru (also known as Planet X) will crash into our own on 23 September 2017.
However, many Twitter users appeared unperturbed about end of the world speculation, instead making jokes about the prophecy.
There was lots of talk about 'the end of the world'
Not long ego entire civilizations and villages were losing their minds over the exact same event thinking it was the end of the world

Although it was also like a preview of the end of the world because it was so quiet. No cars driving past. Nothing. #SolarEclipse2017

It's a really weird thing isn't it, even when you know it's going to happen. Our ancient ancestors must have found it terrifying.

There's a solar eclipse on the same day Big Ben stops bonging, defo feels a little like signaling end of the world

Others were more philosophical
Like oh my god guys! We survived the solar apoc-eclipse! Onto the next end of the world theory
— Andrej Ivanov (@andrejiphoto) August 21, 2017
I survived the end of the world twice (2000, 2012) and a solar eclipse. I. Am. Invincible.

Many speculated about 'Nibiru' or 'Planet X'
This may prove that the whole Planet X(Nibiru) is real, if we can see another light source that is clearly not the sun next to the eclipse

Is that #Nibiru down there or just the #EclipseSolar reflection? #planetx#retrogradepic.twitter.com/Aq8Nzs6m8r

If you think this eclipse is cool wait till Nibiru collides with Earth and lizard people enslave us.

But others were definitely unconvinced ...
I can't believe people think their lens flare pictures are proof of a rogue planet sometimes called Nibiru or PlanetX. #gettherapy

Currently lying down with a paper bag over my head waiting for #Planetx to smash into the earth. Was nice Tweeting #eclipalypse
