Ready Player One actress Olivia Cooke has revealed that the cast of Steven Spielberg's new film haven’t spoken about their salaries.

The star admitted that she “never” speaks about money for jobs because it is “quite rude”, even in light of recent gender pay gap revelations.

Cooke told BBC News: “We didn't have any chats [about pay]. I never discuss money because I've just been brought up like that, I think it's quite rude.

“But, I think it's wonderful, and I'm so glad there's a conversation about it now.

"I feel like this is for me, being an actress in this current moment, I've never felt so supported and passionate and riled up with my fellow sisters.”

Her fantasy flick co-star Tye Sheridan added that the pair had “definitely” never talked about their pay packets.

Both star in hotly-anticipated film Ready Player One, out next week, which is the latest from critically-acclaimed director Steven Spielberg.

Opening up about the futuristic feel of the film at the European premiere, Spielberg, said: “Getting involved in a world happens whenever we look down at our devices.

“Even when we’re texting or going on Instagram or Snapchat, we are involved in a world that takes us out of reality.

“This simply is when virtual reality steps into the conversation and we found a super drug that's going to be very hard to break.”

Ready Player One is in cinemas nationwide on March 30.
