Mauricio Pochettino says he never lost faith in his side after Tottenham secured their first Premier League win in over a month with a 5-1 demolition of struggling Stoke City.

Spurs, who had drawn two and lost two since a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace here at Wembley Stadium, were back to their destructive best in the second-half of Saturday's clash.

Heung-min Son, Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen all found the back of the net after a Ryan Shawcross own-goal had them one-up at the break.

While the title is now surely out of reach for Spurs, regardless of the outcome of Sunday’s Manchester derby, Pochettino insisted that he never lost faith during their dip.

"There was never any doubt about the team," the Argentine told reporters.

"I am confident, I trust in the team and our job and, like I told you, there are some not so good moments in every team that happen.

"I think after Apoel and today we need to stay optimistic and try to keep our level for the next few games."

Kane’s brace made it 50 goals for club and country in 2017, and Pochettino says there is no doubt he is among the world’s greatest.

"For me he is one of the best, maybe the best," Pochettino added.

"There is no doubt for me, if today [whether] he scored or not, for me I am not going to change my mind, what I think about him - for me he is one of the best.

"[It is a] fantastic record because he scored a lot of goals this year."
