Sunday (October 15) has been and gone, meaning it's now the shiny new £1 coin or nothing, as the deadline for spending your old round pound has passed.

But if you've still got some old-style coins in amongst all that spare change at the bottom of your bag or down the side of the sofa, all is not lost as there are still some ways you can spend them...

Post Office

Banks will still be accepting the old £1 coin for months to come, with the Post Office's Banking Services Director Martin Kearsley saying: "We would like to reassure anyone who is unclear on what to do with their old £1 coins that the Post Office is here for you.

"Thanks to an agreement with all UK high street banks, everyone can deposit old pound coins into their usual high street bank account at their local Post Office branch."

Poundland stores up and down the country will still accept the old round pound coins as part of its 'Legal Tender Extender' initiative until the end of this month (October 31).

Poundland's Managing Director Barry Williams told Digital Spy: "We are the official home of the pound, so it's a no brainer that we offer all Brits the opportunity to spend their hard earned round pounds for longer.

"Our Legal Tender Extender initiative means our customers have a little extra time to make the most of their money.

"We're all about making our customers' money go further, so providing an extra convenience for shoppers to lighten their pockets while doing the weekly shop rather than making a separate trip to the bank or Post Office will come as good news."

Iceland

Supermarket chain Iceland will accept payments in old round pound coins at all its Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores in the UK until the end of this month (October 31).

In a statement, Iceland Group Managing Director Tarsem Dhaliwal said: "We have been ready to accept the new pound coins since they entered circulation in March and all our trolleys have been converted to accept both new and old style coins.

"However, it is very clear that hundreds of millions of the old coins remain in circulation... We are keen to help our customers by making it possible for them to spend them in our stores rather than having to take them to a bank.

"So our message is: bring your old coins to Iceland and I'm sure you will be amazed at what you can buy for a pound!"
