Frank Brooks has become the third candidate to be fired by Lord Sugar after a dismal display during the doughnut task.

After being branded a “diabolical” project manager last week when superhero Benji failed to save him from Lord Sugar’s sharp tongue, Brooks was hauled into the boardroom by Tom Bunday.

And the senior marketing manager failed to sell himself to the business tycoon as Lord Sugar branded him “snappy and emotional" when under-pressure, telling him to be more "level headed" in business, before delivering the dreaded words.

Speaking about his exit, Brooks said: “I’m absolutely devastated. I knew full well that the reason that we failed this task was because of his [Tom] p*** poor leadership.

“This is just the beginning for me.”

During the third week of the competition, the teams – no longer divided by gender – were tasked with creating and selling their own brand of doughnuts.

First, the candidates had to pick team names, a step many viewers had been missing, opting to brand as Team Typhoon and Team Collaborative.

But project manager Bunday took collaboration a bit too far as he led his team very much from the back, putting every single decision to a vote.

Next week, the candidates will take on a show first as they head to Birmingham to sell products at a Bodybuilding convention.

The Apprentice continues Wednesday October 24 at 9pm on BBC One.
