Armed Forces Day in Coventry - Parade timings and everything else you need to know

It's just a couple of days until the return of Armed Forces Day in Coventry. Residents have the chance to join a service and attend a parade in the city on Saturday, June 29.

The event includes a service followed by a parade and salute. Armed Forces Day honours serving members of the Forces, as well as cadets, veterans, reservists, and the families who support them. The parade will be led by The Standard Triumph Pipe Band (Royal British Legion Number 4 Branch).

Everyone in the city is encouraged to show their support and help Coventry pay tribute. The city is a member of the Armed Forces Covenant, which is a promise to look after current and former service personnel and their families.

Service and parade times

On the day, the Armed Forces Day flag will be raised on buildings and famous landmarks around the country, including Coventry’s Council House.

There will be a service at 10.30am at Holy Trinity Church followed by a parade. The parade will assemble alongside the church at 11.30am and travel along Cuckoo Lane, Pepper Lane, and High Street into Broadgate, where there will be a salute.

Lord Mayor of the City of Coventry, Cllr Mal Mutton, who will be taking the salute, said: "Armed Forces Day has always been a very special day for our city and always will be. It is a chance for us to join together and say thank you as a city to all those who serve and to those who have proudly and bravely done so much for all of us.

"We saw on the 80^th anniversary of D-Day recently just how proud people are of the Armed Forces and how grateful the nation is. Now we can stand together as a city and thank all those who serve or have served and their families for all the sacrifices they have made for us.

"They are there in times of conflict and they support our city’s work for peace. We are forever in their debt and this is a chance to show them what they mean to the city of Coventry and its people."
