As Liverpool prepare for their next challenge under a new manager, the club have the opportunity to replicate the formula that saw Jurgen Klopp build foundations for success for many years to come.

During the early days of the German's Liverpool tenure, there was a clear pattern in key signings. Sadio Mane scored a brace against the Reds in the 2015/16 campaign, and several months later he was unveiled as a Red. Gini Wijnaldum sank Klopp's side on Newcastle United's behalf that same year, leading to the same outcome.

This went on for a number of years as Anfield recruitment staff revisited teams that had been played, acquiring the likes of Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota and many more, until it got to the point the trophy cabinet was brimming with silverware.

Now it seems that old trick could come around again as the familiar name of Mohamed Amoura has been brought into the equation. L'Equipe and Kicker both claim that the Reds are one team with their name in the hat for the newly-crowned Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise's 2023/24 top goalscorer.

Signed last August for £3.4m, the 24-year-old Algerian international has set the Juniper Pro League alight. In all competitions he has struck 22 times, and it is one of those - the UEFA Europa League - that Liverpool fans will remember his name.

He featured in both group stage fixtures involving the two clubs this season. The first at Anfield saw the hosts run out 2-0 winners, then with top spot in Group E wrapped up come the final round of fixtures, a rotated Reds team succumbed 2-1 to Union SG.

In that match Amoura was responsible for a clinical opener having managed to burst through the Reds' high defensive line and round Caiomhin Kelleher. He then laid off for teammate Cameron Puertas to strike the eventual winner from the edge of the 18-yard box.

That night the Belgian national media reacted with Amoura described a 'fearmonger', even for opponents the scale of 'superpower' Liverpool. His pace alone was enough to give all three of Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate and Jarell Quansah 'a migraine'.

Granted the Premier League is a step up, though the attacker - who is under contract until 2027 - has evidently displayed credentials that prove he could be suited for the division. Links to Anfield originating from France also explain that Brighton have their eye on the player, and it would take either club a reasonable £17m to secure the signing this summer.
