AN arrest has been made after an armed woman threatened members of the public with a knife.

Essex Police officers in Castle Point were called to reports of a woman threatening people with a knife in the Tarpots area of Benfleet.

A 47-year-old woman has been arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.

She was taken to custody for interview.

Officers are now urging anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: "If you witnessed the incident which occurred around 1.30pm, please call us on 101 or report online, quoting incident 0643 - 25/06/24."
