Arsenal and AC Milan lead chase for 'Iranian Messi' Sardar Azmoun

Arsenal look set to battle it out with AC Milan this summer for the signature of Rubin Kazan striker Sardar Azmoun - who has been dubbed the 'Iranian Messi'.

The promising 19-year-old has made a big impression since joining Rubin from Iranian giants Sepahan in January 2013, scoring three goals in 10 appearances for the struggling Russian side.

His displays have not gone unnoticed either with some of Europe's biggest clubs now weighing up summer offers with a £2million fee mooted.

Azmoun has even claimed that talks between his club and both Arsenal and AC Milan will take place this week, while hinting that he favours a move to the Emirates Stadium.

"There already are solid offers coming from both Arsenal and AC Milan," Azmoun told Russian television show 90.

"Both their representatives are about to meet Rubin Kazan management next Thursday.

"I'm really happy for such clubs being interested in signing me, and playing in Premier League would be a dream coming true.

"But now I'm just focused on the remaining part of Russian championship."

Should Azmoun complete a move to one of Europe's elites, he will follow in the footsteps of Iran's greatest ever footballer Ali Daei, who played for German giants Bayern Munich in the 1990s.

Daei holds the distinction of being the highest scorer ever in international football with 109 goals in 149 caps for Iran.
