Artists First Signs Tony Award Winner Amber Iman

EXCLUSIVE: Artists First has signed Amber Iman, one of the most sought-after theatre artists and vocalists working today.

The recipient of a Tony Award for her work as co-founder of Broadway Advocacy Coalition, an organization looking to use arts and storytelling to build a more equitable society, Iman debuted on Broadway as the High Priestess of Soul, Nina Simone, in Soul Doctor, earning rave reviews and a Clive Barnes Award nomination. Subsequently, she appeared in the first National Tour of the megahit musical, Hamilton, as well as George C. Wolfe’s Shuffle Along, alongside such theatre luminaries as Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Billy Porter.

Most recently starring in productions of Goddess (Berkeley Rep) and Hippest Trip: The Sould Train Musical (A.C.T.), Iman is currently nominated for a Tony for Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Rafaela in the Broadway production of Lempicka. She has also performed Off Broadway and regionally with New York Theatre Workshop, New World Stages, Two River Theater, the Kennedy Center, and many more, earning Helen Hayes and IRENE Award nominations, and winning the Ovation Award and the prestigious Emery Battis Award for Acting Excellence from Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C.

Seen on television in HBO’s High Maintenance, Iman’s self-produced short film, Steve, has been a critical darling at film festivals across the country and internationally, winning prizes for Best Short, Best Actress, and Audience Choice. She starts production on her second short, Blackberry Winter, this year. Iman’s Webby Award-nominated one woman show, An Evening with Amber Iman, is available on Audible.

In addition to Broadway Advocacy Coalition, the Howard University grad co-founded Black Women on Broadway, a group looking to serve and celebrate the accomplishments of Black women in theatre through mentorship and fellowship opportunities. Iman continues to be represented by UTA.
