Aston Villa remain interested in Rennes left-back Adrien Truffert – having had a €20 million bid rejected in the 2023 winter transfer window.

That’s according to French outlet L’Equipe who say Villa tried to buy the 22-year-old lodging what they claim was ‘a significant offer’ for a player who has played for France and was named by Thierry Henry in the preliminary squad for this summer’s Olympic Games.

The report says Villa aren’t the only club keen and lists Leicester City, Fulham and Bournemouth as rival Premier League suitors, along with Benfica, Bayern Munich and AC Milan – should they lose Theo Hernandez. It adds that Lyon and Monaco also have the defender ‘in their back of their minds’.

Meanwhile a separate report hints at movement at left back, where Lucas Digne played started 27 Premier League games last season, with suggestions that Alex Moreno has attracted the attention of Real Betis.

Spanish website Estadiodeportivo say the La Liga side want to bring the 31-year-old back to the club who sold him to Villa in January 2023. They quote the Spaniard as saying he knows their paths will cross again in the future. Moreno has been beset by injuries since then but did play 21 times last term.
