Tottenham defender Emerson Royal has his heart set on a move to AC Milan but the Italian giants have not closed the book on Aston Villa’s Matty Cash.

That’s according to website Calciomercato who claim Royal is ‘so enthusiastic’ about the prospect of a move to the San Siro that he has told his agents to agree personal terms as soon as possible, indeed it is reported he is not even considering other offers that are on the table.

Obviously Milan need to come to an arrangement with Tottenham too and that’s where the jeopardy seems to come in, with Milan said to be considering offering €15m – a full €10m less than Spurs’ valuation.

Of course Milan are still interested in Cash, who they consider to be a ‘more convincing’ option – but also a more expensive one. Calciomercato reckon the Poland international would attract a fee of around €35m. They are hoping Villa gives them an unlikely sign that there might be a ‘discount’ on that price tag.

Cash has been an important player for Villa in recent seasons and the 26-year-old has made 142 appearances since joining from Nottingham Forest in 2020.

Just to confuse the issue according to Italian football journalist Gianluca di Marzio Inter Milan have also ‘looked at’ Cash as a possible replacement for Denzel Dumfries – who has himself been linked with Villa.
