Aston Villa are believed to be on high alert as Brest full-back Bradley Locko will supposedly be available for transfer this summer, but face Premier League competition for the signing.

With Villa on the verge of securing Champions League football for next season, Unai Emery will need to make appropriate additions to his squad to keep competition for places high and contend with the increased intensity on multiple fronts. One area that has been suggested for improvement is at full-back.

Last week it was Atletico Madrid's Reinildo linked with a cut-price summer move, and now it is highly-promising Locko of Ligue 1 outfit Brest in what is said would be a £25m deal for a player currently on £8k-per-week wages.

This suggestion originates from reporter Alan Nixon, who claims the player will be allowed to leave his current club ahead of the new season. Brest have shot up the French first tier standings this season and are fighting to be a part of the Champions League too, with Locko playing in all 33 matches to date.

As a left-sided player with great attacking credentials, the 22-year-old would keep Alex Moreno and Lucas Digne on their toes or they would risk falling down the pecking order. Unai Emery is reportedly a big fan of the move and scouts are said to have watched him on Friday night.

However just as they would be doing on the field, Villa must go head-to-head with Europe's elite to secure these big money transfers. This is because Manchester City have also been touted with keen interest heading into the summer transfer window.

As well as the title-chasers, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are all also said to have kept tabs on the France Under-23 international.
