How Aston Villa players wildly celebrated Champions League qualification after Tottenham defeat
Aston Villa will play in the UEFA Champions League next season after Tottenham fell to a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday night.
Unai Emery's men will compete in the competition for the first time in their history after top four rivals failed to defeat champions-elect City. Villa all but confirmed their place in the prestigious competition on Monday night with a point against Liverpool.
The 3-3 thriller at Villa Park put them on 68 points meaning Spurs would have required maximum points from their final two games of the season. Fortunately for Villa, it went their way.

The club hasn't reached UEFA's premier club competition since it rebranded from the European Cup in 1991/92. Their last appearance in that competition came 41 years ago in 1982/83 having lifted the trophy the year before.
On Tuesday, Emery and his players were together to celebrate the achievement at the club's end-of-season awards. The squad and coaching staff joined together at Villa Park to celebrate a historic season for the club.
A big screen showed the Man City game live and footage of the players celebrating emerged online. Former Aston Villa correspondent for BirminghamMail, Ashley Preece, posted the brilliant scenes from the awards night.
Villa will now travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace in party mode. Champions League football is coming to Villa Park.
