Aston Villa's hopes of securing Champions League football were handed a major boost by the results at the weekend.

Villa claimed a 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday thanks to late goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins. The result means that Villa are now fourth in the Premier League table and three points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs lost 4-0 to Newcastle United to lose ground on Villa in the table, but do still have a game in hand which is against Manchester City next month. Villa now have just five Premier League fixtures remaining before their campaign draws to a close, but there is also the Europa Conference League

Manchester United will also have hopes of finishing in the top four, despite failing to win any of the previous four Premier Leagues. Below is a look at how Villa's run-in compares to both Man United and Spurs in the race to finish fourth.

Bournemouth (H) - Sunday, April 21

After beating Arsenal at the weekend, Villa's next test will see them return home to face Bournemouth at Villa Park.

Emery and co. will be the favourites for the three points and will expect to get another victory on the board. However, Cherries boss Andoni Iraola won manager of the month for March which has seen the club's form significantly improve in recent weeks.

Chelsea (H) - Saturday, April 28

Chelsea return to Villa Park in a repeat of the FA Cup fourth-round tie from the start of February.

Villa will have confidence in getting revenge on the London club with three points in the Premier League fixture. However, Emery will know the challenge that will face his team should Chelsea show the form that saw them beat Villa in their previous meeting.

Brighton (A) - Saturday, May 4

Villa's next away match in the Premier League will see them travel to face Brighton at the start of next month.

The Seagulls have proven themselves to be tough opponents on their home turf and it will be no different when Villa make the trip to the south coast in early May. Victory in this game is likely to be vital to Villa's chances of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Liverpool (H) - Monday, May 13

Villa welcome Liverpool to Villa Park in a Monday Night Football match-up next month.

The Merseyside club have gone through an indifferent run of form in recent games that have seen defeats to Atalanta and Crystal Palace. If Liverpool are still in the title race with Arsenal and Manchester City when this fixture rolls around, it will be a tough evening for Villa.

Crystal Palace (A) - Sunday, May 19

Villa's final Premier League match of the season sees them travel to face Crystal Palace.

Selhurst Park has often been a tricky fixture for visiting teams in recent years. New manager Oliver Glasner has already implemented his methods on the squad in the early weeks of his tenure, which could make the season finale a difficult occasion for Villa.
