August Alsina addresses Jada Pinkett Smith relationship in new song ‘Entanglements’

August Alsina has released a new song, “Entanglements”, that appears to reference actor Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk about their relationship.

The 27-year-old singer collaborated with rapper Rick Ross for the track, which was written by songwriter Derrick Milano.

The song includes lyrics such as: “That ain’t my girl, but I got the key to the crib and to the car” and, “You left your man just to f*** with me and break his heart.”

“The definition of entanglement/ Is when you’re tangled in the sheets,” Alsina sings.

Pinkett Smith recently confirmed that she was in a relationship with Alsina while temporarily separated from her husband, Will Smith.

Appearing on her own show to discuss the situation with her husband, she used the term “entanglement” when describing her involvement with Alsina. She was prompted into confirming it was a “relationship” by Smith.

“Yes, it was a relationship, absolutely. I was in a lot of pain and I was very broken,” she said. “Now in the process of that relationship I definitely realised that you can’t find happiness outside of yourself.”

Ross appears to reference Pinkett Smith when he raps: “Shawty leanin’ on my shoulder, got her questionin’ my willpower/ Jaded by her beauty, but her reputation real solid.”

The full track is available to stream on services including Spotify and iTunes.
