Australian Family Dramedy ‘Bump’ To End On Stan After Fifth & Final Season

EXCLUSIVE: Stan is saying goodbye to the Chalmers-Davis family.

The Australian streamer has put a fifth and final season of Bump into production, with filming underway in Sydney. The comedy-drama is Stan’s longest-running local scripted series, with the first season having launched back in January 2021.

The show is centered around ambitious teenage girl Oly, who unexpectedly has a baby, and the complications that follow for the Davis and Chalmers families.

The final season will hint at the future for the lead characters, jumping between past and present, as they face the cancer diagnosis of Oly’s mother Angie (Claudia Karvan) and try to celebrate the joy of Oly’s second pregnancy. Stan is providing the audience with a chance to be an extra by providing 30-second videos explaining what they’d like to see happen in the final episodes.

Nathalie Morris (We Were Dangerous), who plays Oly, will return alongside leads Carlos Sanson Jr. (Ladies in Black) and Ava Cannon and the rest of the Chalmers-Davis family, including Logie and AACTA Award-winning actress Karvan (The Secret Life of Us), who is a co-creator, plus Angus Sampson (The Lincoln Lawyer, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga) and Christian Byers (Year OfExposure). Also returning are Ioane Sa’ula (The Fall Guy), Safia Arain (House of Gods), Paula Garcia (Thirteen Lives), Claudia de Giusti, Steph Tisdell (Class of 07, Total Control), Dylan Alcott, Anita Hegh (Total Control, Uptight), Ryan Johnson (The Claremont Murders), Matilda Ridgway (Disclosure), Oscar Leal (Black Snow), Henrietta Amevor, Miguel Andrade and Alex Sanson.

Roadshow Rough Diamond produces the series, with financial assistance from Screen NSW. ITV Studios handles the international distribution. In the U.S., Bump aired on The CW but was quietly dropped in fall 2023. In the UK, it is offered on BBC iPlayer, and it has also been shopped into territories such as South Korea and New Zealand.

Roadshow Rough Diamond founders Dan Edwards and John Edwards are producing season 5 alongside series co-creators Karvan and Kelsey Munro. The returning writing team comprises Nick Coyle (Wellmania), Timothy Lee (Mystery Road) and Shanti Gudgeon (Wolf Creek). Additionally, Actress Morris will make her writing debut.

Margie Beattie (Plum), Rebecca O’Brien (The Unlisted) and Ismail Khan (Barrumbi Kids) are directing, with Cailah Scobie and Donna Chang the executive producers for Stan.

Last month, we revealed cast for season 2 of Stan and Nine Network original drama Scrublands, which stars Luke Arnold and Bella Heathcote.
