Joe and Anthony Russo have managed to achieve the almost impossible with Avengers: Infinity War, balancing out a megaton of characters and plot threads into a film that isn't just coherent, but immensely enjoyable.

Despite working their magic on multiple Marvel heroes, the two said that even they would struggle with bringing Superman to the big screen.

In an interview with Business Insider, Joe Russo said that the Man of Steel was "a very difficult character", adding: "You have to find an emotional flaw or weakness in the character in order to make them vulnerable."

Anthony expanded on this point, stating: "The more powerful a character is, the more difficult [it is] to deal with that character on a narrative level.

"As storytellers, and the way we explore characters, we always look for vulnerabilities in characters because that's where characters become interesting. They're superficially interesting in their strength, but they get much more depth when you find where they don't have that kind of strength.

"In general, the more powerful a character is, the more tricky that is."

The duo (plus screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely) did a solid job with the similarly powerful Thor in Infinity War, balancing the tragedy of his losses with his arrogance about his certain victory.

Could DC ever manage to get this team on board if they ever decided to take another crack at a Superman movie? We'd like to see it happen.

Avengers: Endgame will be released in the UK and US on April 26, 2019, while Avengers: Infinity War is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download.
