Avengers Infinity War first reaction: Fan verdict is in for 'relentless' Marvel sequel
Avengers: Infinity War - the Marvel superhero spectacle fans have been awaiting for ten years - is a matter of days away, with fans sharing their initial reactions following the film's Los Angeles premiere.
The film, which shattered pre-sale records, will see superheroes including Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) colliding with the Guardians of the Galaxy - led by Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt - as well as Spider-Man (Tom Holland) for the very first time.
Billed as “the beginning of the end” of this particular phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Infinity War - directed by the Russo brothers - tracks the villainous Thanos' hunt for the Infinity Stones as his rule over humanity inches ever closer to his grasp.
Predictably, the film - which is expected to boast a scene featuring over 40 Marvel characters - has sparked intense excitement with fans posting their reactions to social media.

I saw #AvengersInfinityWar earlier tonight and I can say that it delivers. There's a lot of really fun character interactions, some cool action moments (Thor's powers, Iron Man's suit), and a few powerful emotional beats. Most of the humor is 👌 Also Captain America is 💥 pic.twitter.com/WoZNPDpGXk

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is basically CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR times 20, except with less hero-on-hero fighting. I think people who loved the airport fight in CIVIL WAR like I did will go nuts for this film, and people who were bored will be 20 times as bored here. #InfinityWar

#AvengersInfinityWar pretty much had me laughing, screaming, or crying the entire way through. It never lets up. I sat in my chair stunned as the credits rolled, speechless and sobbing.

Wow! Marvel dropped all the rules, fists out and what a tornado!! #AvengersInfinityWar was a blast and Thanos just dethroned Killmonger as the champion of villains.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is very weighty and juggles most of its characters with consideration. It’s the closest thing to a Paul Thomas Anderson movie you’ll find in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I Am Shook! #Marvel #AvengersInfinityWar pic.twitter.com/YgntkXFIkv

Avenger: Infinity War is a spectacle. It's enormous. It's bigger than anyone is ready for and it's an absolute roller coaster.
It's dark. It's fun. It's heavy. It's thrilling. Infinity War is unlike anything that has ever come before it.— Brandon Davis (@BrandonDavisBD) April 24, 2018
INFINITY WAR is exhausting. *Exhausting.* It all just turned into noise for me after a while. But the amazing ending almost made up for the rest of it. And Thanos is a good, sad villain.

In February, Black Panther smashed its opening weekend estimates of $90m (£66.8m) and now sits as the tenth most successful film of all time globally. However, Infinity War's debut is estimated to pull in up to a staggering $200m, a feat hit by just five films in cinema history.
Marvel has been hyping the film as a kind of "point of no return" for the franchise, with the studios' head Kevin Feige revealing the title of next year's fourth Avengers outing is a spoiler. Gong by the above reactions, it seems the ending of Infinity War is going to switch things up quite a bit.
Avengers: Infinity War arrives in cinemas on 26 April.
