Baby Gibbon Born at Philadelphia Zoo

The Philadelphia Zoo announced the birth of a “healthy” male white-handed gibbon, posting adorable footage of the little primate to social media on March 27.

The zoo said the gibbon was born on March 14 “just before keepers arrived,” and is continuing to nurse from his mom.

According to the Philadelphia Zoo, white-handed gibbons are considered to be one of the most acrobatic animals “on the planet,” and are listed as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
