From the moment that it was released earlier in April, Netflix series Baby Reindeer has got people talking. The seven-parter is based on writer, actor and comedian Richard Gadd's real life experience of being stalked and sexually assaulted in his twenties.

In the drama Gadd plays Donny Dunn, a fictionalised version of himself. After Donny offers a woman called Martha Scott a cup of tea, she begins to make his life a misery by relentlessly stalking him.

Martha is played by English actress Jessica Gunning, whom critics have heavily praised for her performance. In Baby Reindeer, Gunning puts on a Scottish accent when in fact, she is originally from West Yorkshire.

Gunning’s first television credit was Scarlet in the BBC Three series It's Adam and Shelley. Since then she has gone on to star in numerous TV shows, including Prime Suspect 1973, Back and Doctor Who.

One of Gunning’s most notable roles was in Law and Order: UK. She played the role of Angela and was on the show for 20 episodes from 2009 until 2011.

The actress has also appeared in White Heat, the film Pride and the sitcom Trollied. More recently she starred in the comedy-drama The Outlaws which was directed by Stephen Merchant.
