Baby Trapped Under Van Saved By Quick-thinking Passers By

An 11-month old boy had a brush with death after being run over by a minivan.

The little lad was tired while out walking with his mother in Wutan village, in eastern China’s Fujian Province, and began squatting by the roadside.

As his mother - who has only been identified by the surname, Li - crouched down next to her son to offer comfort, the driver of a silver van made a right turn into them, hitting the mother’s legs and pinning the baby to the ground.

The shocked driver immediately ran to the rear of his vehicle and attempted to lift it, but was unable to do so. As he screamed for help, several villagers raced to his aid, helping lift the vehicle in less than 15 seconds, freeing the injured boy.

The little one was taken to hospital for an examination, and reports say he suffered bruises to the left side of his face and nerve damage to his right eye, while his mother hobbled away with a minor knee injury.

It’s expected that both will make a full recovery from their ordeal.
