Yahoo News Back to the Future writer on why there'll never be another movie
The Back to the Future movie series is not about to start looking forward, with co-writer Bob Gale insisting that there will never be a fourth film.
While Doc Brown and Marty McFly won't be making a re-appearance on the big screen, the two characters will be returning for Back to the Future: The Musical – something very different to the idea of another sequel.
Speaking to the BBC ahead of the musical's run, co-writer Bob Gale revealed that fans and studio bosses are always trying to persuade him and director Robert Zemeckis to give Part 4, or even a reboot, a go.
"We already made a lot of money," Gale said, recalling studio executives' attempts at persuasion. "You know, you don't sell your kids into prostitution. It was the wrong thing to do. We put 'The End' at the end of part three."

As well as suggesting that Michael J Fox "isn't in the shape" to reprise his role as Marty McFly due to Parkinson's disease, Gale said that the current trend of reboots and revivals can sometimes be "a little bit painful" for audiences.
"We learn from the fact that so many studios have gone back to the well on some of their franchise properties too many times, and the audiences are disappointed and say, 'Oh my God, they ruined my childhood'," he explained.
"We don't want to ruin anybody's childhood, and doing a musical was the perfect way to give the public more Back to the Future without messing up what has gone before."

Speaking of the musical, the brand new stage show – which is heading to the West End later this year – will feature music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, as well as some of the classic hits we know and love from the movie soundtrack.
