Backstreet Boys release first new single in five years

Legendary boy band Backstreet Boys have released their first new single in five years called "Don't Go Breaking My Heart."

The five-piece revealed their new song early on Friday via their new record label RCA.

Alongside the track, the group dropped an official music video, directed by Backstreet Boys' longtime collaborators Rich + Tone.

The visual features the band members all grown-up and singing romantically into the camera.

"The minute we heard this song we knew it was special," says bandmate Kevin Richardson in a statement. "I geeked out over the piano and synths. When that groove drops on the second verse, COME ON. Great verse, hook and melodies. Just makes you wanna listen over and over again."

"Don't Go Breaking My Heart" was produced by Jamie Hartman and Stuart Crichton, but doesn't bear any resemblance to the '70s song of the same name by Elton John and Kiki Dee.

To accompany Backstreet Boys' new music, the band will hit the road for a series of summer tour dates prior to returning to their Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life residency in Las Vegas.

Richardson also revealed that UK boy band Take That recently went undercover to check out their residency.

He told The Sun that the bands "hung out" together and that Take That is in the studio recording.

2018 marks the 25th anniversary for the boy band.

Backstreet Boys last released a full album in 2013 with World Like This.

There is no news yet with regards to whether or not the band has a new album under way.
