New Great British Bake Off presenters Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding have revealed what their predecessors Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins think of the revamped show.

Mel and Sue's decision to leave Bake Off once it departed the BBC remains a sore spot for some fans, but there's no doubt that Channel 4 made a bold choice in hiring Sandi and Noel as their replacements.

At the first screening of the new series on Monday night (August 21), Sandi and Noel were quizzed on if they've had any feedback from Mel and Sue thus far.

"We are friends with Mel and Sue," Noel insisted. "I'm more friends with Mel, [Sandi] is more friends with Sue… Mel was lovely. She said, 'I feel like I should hand you a baton like a baguette'."

"It's a fact that when you're friends with people, you don't spend all your time talking about work," Sandi chimed in. "When we get together, we talk about other things.

"One of the things that Mel and I talk about a lot is that the comedian world is very small… There's a lot of love and attention that people think is not there, maybe they think there's a rivalry?"

Noel also revealed that he was actually working with Mel Giedroyc on Taskmaster when he found out that he'd landed the Bake Off presenting gig.

"I wasn't allowed to tell her. She said, 'What are you doing next?' Umm, 'I dunno!'" he joked.

Earlier in the Q&A session, Sandi and Noel spoke a bit about the secret to their double act - and admittedly their answer was spicier than we expected.

In spite of the enthusiasm for the new presenting duo and judge Prue Leith, sole original cast member Paul Hollywood has admitted that he missed Mel, Sue and Mary Berry while filming the new series.

However, he was quick to add: "I had tears rolling down my face because of how funny Noel and Sandi are. So I wasn't really that sad in the end."

The all-new Great British Bake Off will make its long-awaited Channel 4 debut on Tuesday, August 29. Watch the slightly creepy first trailer below:
