Bake Off fans ‘absolutely furious’ as Stacey backchats Paul Hollywood after getting handshake for ‘leaky clangers’

Stacey felt the wrath of Great British Bake Off fans after she clapped back at Paul Hollywood moments after he awarded her one of his coveted handshakes

The amateur baker snapped at Hollywood as he criticised her Cumberland Rum Nicky for having too many lattice strips.

The remaining contestants were tasked with making the 230 year old tart with a side of rum butter and told to use 14 strips for the lattice.

On critiquing Stacey’s attempt, Hollywood told her she had a “very good” lattice but that she hadn’t followed his instructions.

She snapped: “You said 14, so we did 14.”

On counting the strips, Hollywood concluded: “There’s 15.”

A red-faced Stacey replied: “Oh I’ve always had a problem with maths.”

Fans were fuming with Stacey’s attitude, which came moments after Hollywood had shook her hand despite the fact she had presented him with “leaky clangers” during the signature challenge.

One fan tweeted: "When you think you can't get any more annoyed with Stacey... and then she back chats Paul #GBBO."
