Bake Off’s Prue Leith pokes fun at Twitter fail as she misspells Sandi Toksvig’s name at Christmas lunch with Paul Hollywood and Noel Fielding

Prue Leith poked fun at herself as she attempted to use Twitter to post a picture of her Christmas lunch with fellow Great British Bake Off stars Paul Hollywood, Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding.

The TV chef, 77, sat down for a festive feast at Toksvig’s house where roasted duck and Danish rice pudding was on the menu.

Leith posted a picture of the foursome tucking in while wearing Christmas cracker hats, alongside the caption: “Christmas comes early to the Gang of Four. Sandi cooks a mean roast duck.”

In a nod to her accidental Twitter reveal of this year’s Bake Off winner ahead of the final, Leith joked that she was unable to use the microblogging site after she forgot to tag Toksvig, Hollywood and Fielding.

She added: “Forgot to tag #sanditokswig, #noelfielding, #paulhollywood but then I’m no good at Twitter am I??”

Users were quick to point out that she still hadn’t tagged them in her follow up post, which also saw her misspell Toksvig as “Tokswig”.

She tried a further three times to correct the spelling which saw her continue to write “Tokswig” before ending up referring to the TV presenter as “Toksvik”.

She tweeted: “No I mean TOKSVIK . Curses to auto-correct.”

One user tweeted: “In theory you haven’t tagged them - use @ rather than #.”

Another posted: “Hilarious Prue (it's Sandra Birgitte "Sandi" Toksvig) TOKSVIG hehehe.”

Leith came under fire earlier this year after she accidentally tweeted the name of the Bake Off winner hours before the final aired on TV.

She said she was left feeling “suicidal” by the incident which she described as “one of the worst half an hours” of her life.

Speaking on This Morning she said: “You’re going to ask me about that tweet. I think that was one of the worst half an hours. That first half an hour, when I realised what I’d done, which was the most idiotic thing in the world.

“I felt suicidal, awful. The thing that upset me the most was that this would take attention off the winner. And Sophie [Faldo] has worked for months and months for this moment. The column inches would be about my tweet and not her triumph.”
