Bank holiday days left in Scotland 2024 as one lucky place in UK gets extra day

The people of Jersey are being treated to a new public holiday next month.

An extra bank holiday is getting added to the calendar in July when King Charles and Queen Camilla visit. As Jersey is a self-governing island, people on the UK mainland won't be getting the same holiday.

July 15 is set to be the first time a reigning monarch has gone to Jersey since Queen Elizabeth II's 2005 visit. The extra bank holiday is estimated to have cost the island £700,000 in wages, reports the Liverpool Echo.

In his annual visit to Scotland, King Charles is scheduled for two days of engagements next week. On July 2 and 3, the king is holding an investiture ceremony and garden party on July 2 and 3 as part of Holyrood Week.

Queen Camilla will join King Charles for a celebration of the 900th anniversary of Edinburgh at Edinburgh Castle.

For Scots, the next bank holiday won't be until August. It's already halfway through 2024 and there are just four total bank holidays remaining.
