New bank holiday declared in July but only for one lucky part of the UK
There's nothing like a great British bank holiday weekend, although we're sure many of us wouldn't mind a few extra holidays added to the calendar. Lucky residents of Jersey are set to have a new public holiday next month in honour of the visit from King Charles III and Queen Camilla, to mark the first Royal visit since the late Queen's trip in 2005, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The BBC reports that this special day off will cost Jersey taxpayers approximately £700,000 in wages to cover for civil servants taking the day off. Despite being a British Crown dependency, Jersey operates as a self-governing island, meaning mainland Brits won't be enjoying the same holiday on July 15.
