What bank holidays are left in 2024 as new public holiday declared - but only for island
A new public holiday has been announced - but only for the island of Jersey next month to commemorate the visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
This will mark the first visit by a reigning monarch to the island since the late Queen's visit in 2005, and the holiday is projected to cost Jersey taxpayers approximately £700,000 in wages to cover civil servants taking the day off, as reported by the BBC.
Given that Jersey operates as a self-governing island, distinct from the UK in many ways, residents on the British mainland will not be granted the same holiday on July 15 reports the Liverpool Echo.
