Barry Chuckle funeral: Brother Paul Chuckle carries brother’s coffin in as TV and comedy stars gather to say goodbye

A host of television and comedy stars have gathered in Rotherham to pay their respects and say goodbye to Barry Chuckle at his funeral.

Brother Paul, real name Paul Elliot, invited fans to join in a public tribute to the entertainer as he carried Barry’s coffin inside of the service on Friday afternoon.

Crowds gathered outside of the New York Stadium in Rotherham for the funeral, with many fans wearing Rotherham United strips.

Famous faces including Roy Chubby Brown, Vicki Michelle, Linda Nolan, Bernard Clifton, Tommy Cannon and Billy Pearce were amongst those invited inside the stadium.

The stadium is the home of Rotherham United football club, of which Barry and his brother Paul were honorary life presidents.

A wreath was laid outside of the entrance as close family paid tribute to the comedy legend.

Four men carried the coffin in through the player's entrance, including Paul, who had described Barry, 73, as his "very best friend" after his death on August 5.

Fans are invited to celebrate Barry’s life outside of the town’s New York stadium after the service.
