Barry Gibb ‘Set To Play Glastonbury 2016’

Former Bee Gee Barry Gibb has reportedly been lined up for this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

He’s said to have been the latest to sign up for the Somerset festival as part of the ‘legend’ section on Sunday afternoon, during which Jeff Lynne’s ELO will also perform.

The veterans’ slot has become one of the most talked about at Glasto, with Dolly Parton and Lionel Richie proving popular in the last couple of years.

In 2008 organiser Michael Eavis signed both Neil Diamond and Leonard Cohen for the spot in perhaps its finest year and he is said to be feeling the pressure to repeat such a booking.

A source was quoted in a daily newspaper today saying: “Barry Gibb is a music legend and has so many songs that will lift the crowd. Playing the main stage with his disco tunes would be amazing.”

It is not the first time Barry – who was in the group with his late brothers Robin and Maurice Gibb – will have been asked to perform at the coveted festival.

The insider added: “He has been asked previously a couple of years ago but Michael has made it his mission to get him to perform this year. Barry’s planning a new album for this year and a Glastonbury performance would coincide with that.”
