While most dogs love to chase after a ball, this Bedlington terrier has his sights set on far more impressive achievements such as riding a trike.

Wayne Sowerby and Kate Hayllar decided one day to sit their dog Barry on a tricycle to see what would happen.

Wayne explained that when they moved away from him 'he just carried on sitting there and we thought "What's going on here?"’

‘The first time we put him on the trike, we set him off down the driveway at our house, which is on a bit of a hill - and he did fall off,’ he added.

The couple ran over worrying he was injured but before they had a chance to reach him, Barry had climbed back onto his new favourite toy.

They now take the precaution of helping Barry steer the vehicle with two lines of fishing line.

Now Barry has become the main attraction in his home town in Cumbria and Wayne said: 'He is a bit of a legend around where we live; he's well known in lots of the villages. He became more and more popular as we began putting photos on Facebook.

'Lots of people love coming by and see him.'
