Warning: this article contains spoilers for the latest episode of Arrow.

Batwoman finally made her long-awaited debut in last night's (December 10) episode of Arrow as part of the Arrowverse Elseworlds crossover.

Which only begs one question – will Batman make an appearance at some point too?

The Caped Crusader has been off-limits for The CW's Arrowverse, though the latest episode took events to Gotham City, making a number of references to Batman lore, including an appearance for Arkham Asylum and references to a number of famous baddies.

Most notably, we see the Bat-signal on the top of Wayne Tower, the biggest reference yet to the iconic superhero.

"DC doesn’t let you say 'Batman', [or] have anything about Gotham City," said Arrow writer Caroline Dries (via TheWrap). "Now, all of a sudden, you can do stuff. For a bunch of geeks like us, you're in heaven."

With the references and whatnot, could that mean he appears himself? Well, Dries admitted that the character's still off limits, though remained hopeful.

"That's the one where they cut you off," she said. "Slowly but surely, we'll just keep picking away at it."

Meanwhile, the latest episode of Arrow hinted at a major twist with the possible arrival of the Green Lantern.

The Elseworlds crossover continues with Supergirl tonight (December 11) at 8pm ET, all on The CW in the US. Sky One airs all three series in the UK.
