BBC announces new Agatha Christie drama with Sex Education's Mimi Keene

The has BBC announced a new Agatha Christie drama starring Sex Education's Mimi Keene.

Keene, who played Ruby Matthews on the hit Netflix show and also appeared in EastEnders, has been cast in a three-part adaptation of Christie's crime novel titled Towards Zero. She joins a star-studded cast, including Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Haunting of Bly Manor), Ella Lily Hyland (Fifteen Love) and Anjelica Huston.

Set in 1930s England, the series will follow British tennis star Nevile Strange (Jackson-Cohen) and his ex-wife Audrey (Hyland), who make the decision to still spend the summer together following a a high-profile divorce.

The former couple head to their childhood home and the coastal estate of Nevile's aunt, Lady Tressilian (Huston), in Gull's Point.

According to the official synopsis: "With unfinished business between the former childhood sweethearts, plus the presence of Nevile’s new wife Kay (Keene), tensions are running high.

"Add to this a long-suffering lady’s companion, a mysterious gentleman’s valet, an exiled cousin with a grudge, a venerable family lawyer, an inquisitive orphan and a French con man, and soon there will be murder.

"A troubled detective must rediscover his purpose to untangle a toxic web of jealousy, deceit and dysfunction. Can he solve the crime before another victim meets their death?"

Other cast members include Jackie Clune, Grace Doherty, Jack Farthing, Khalil Gharbia, Adam Hugill, Clarke Peters, Matthew Rhys and Anjana Vasan.

Towards Zero, which is now filming in Bristol and Devon, will be directed by Sam Yates with Rachel Bennette adapting the script.

"This is a very special production. Rachel has done an extraordinary job on making my great-grandmother's story even more dramatic, intense and troubling," James Pritchard, executive producer for Agatha Christie Limited, said in a statement. "Add in a cast of this calibre and viewers are in for a real treat."

Towards Zero does not yet have a release date.
