Bargain Hunt's Danny Sebastian was left to address a unique predicament that arose during the popular BBC programme. A team found themselves short of their first bought item: a vintage brooch lost somewhere at the fair.

Danny shared with auctioneer Stuart Maule: "We've got a bit of a problem and this is the first time that it's ever happened on Bargain Hunt. A team's item was lost at the fair. It's the Red's first item that they brought and that was my challenge."

Detailing the episode for viewers, Danny explained his personal challenge to the red team which ended in unintentional mishap due to the petite size of the item leading to its disappearance.

He continued, clarifying the situation to the audience and the on-hand expert: "If they were to go with the original brooch, they'd be guaranteed the top end of your replacement valuation, they'll be straight in with a £2 profit. Or we'll give them a second option, during the shopping they looked at a very similar brooch on the same stall, one of our team has gone back and brought it."

Stuart reviewed the backup brooch, priced the same as the missing one but containing butterfly wings: a less desired feature amongst general collectors yet still holding possible appeal for niche collecting enthusiasts, reports the Express.

He said: "We've estimated the same as the other brooch, £5 to £10." When it was time for their crucial verdict, antiques expert Stephanie Connell laid out the options: pocket a surefire £2 profit or wager on the potential of the new piece.

Both the women told Danny they had decided to gamble and see how much the new one could get them.

The BBC host said: "I think you've done quite a good decision there."

When it came to auctioning off the brooch, the bidding started at £10 and quickly made a profit as the first bid was placed at £12.

In the end, it managed to sell for £22, which the team were thrilled with as the item went to a male bidder.

Congratulating the women, Danny said: "Well done! Brilliant, that is a £14 profit, obviously you made the right decision, you really did well done."

However, the team suffered a major blow when the other items they brought didn't do as well as they had hoped, with them ending on a £25 loss.

In the end, the Red team lost to the Blue team who finished the show with a triumphant £122 profit.
