BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent was noticeably absent for the second day running, as Jon Kay and Sarah Campbell took over presenting duties on Tuesday.

The 52-year-old, typically co-hosts the BBC show with Jon, 54, from Monday to Wednesday each week. However, Sally has been replaced by her colleague Sarah Campbell, who also works on BBC News, for the last two episodes.

Despite her absence from the early morning BBC programme, Sally has remained active on social media, the Mirror reports. She shared a throwback photo on Instagram, originally posted by makeup artist Patrick Bartley. The snap showed her alongside the MUA, Channel 4's Steph McGovern, and BBC News journalist Lizzie Simmons-Wood.

The group seemed to be enjoying a sunny holiday together, all sporting smiles and sunglasses. Prior to her absence this week, Sally had presented the show last Monday and Wednesday. On Friday, she appeared in a pre-recorded interview with the late Rob Burrow's wife, Lindsey Burrow, discussing their relationship, family, and her late husband, according to the Express.

This followed the tragic news that rugby player Rob, who had raised awareness of motor neurone disease (MND) following his diagnosis, had passed away at the age of 41 earlier this month. Sally, who knew Rob and is reported to have become friends with his family, had promoted the segment on her social media account the previous day.

The images included him enjoying moments with his family, immersed in the sport he loved, and one particularly moving snapshot of a note he penned for his nearest and dearest.

The note read: "To Lindsey, Macy, Maya and Jackson. Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars. Love always Hubby/Daddy." Sally mirrored these words in her Instagram homage, captioning: "Shoot for the moon. Land in the stars @rob7lindsey xxx".

On Twitter, Sally shared her deep respect, posting: "Smallest player on the field. But a giant of a man. There's only one Rob Burrow."
