BBC One has confirmed when the MasterChef finale will air – and it's very soon.

The public service broadcaster has bumped this year's finale to 8pm on Wednesday, April 14.

It was originally supposed to air on Friday, April 9 but was delayed due to a scheduling change following the death of Prince Phillip.

MasterChef series 17 began with 40 amateur cooks battling it out to prove themselves in front of presenters John Torode and Greg Wallace and a host of guest judges.

Six weeks later, only Tom, Alexina and Mike are left to compete in the grand final to become MasterChef Champion and take home the much-sought after trophy – with the final episode demanding the competitors pull out all the stops to to cook their way to glory.

The episode will see the amateur chefs given just three hours to prepare three dishes to showcase what they have learned across the series, and which also demonstrate the kind of cook they have become.

Laura and Madeeha were ousted from the competition in the previous Finals Week episodes.
