The fan shared a series of snaps on a Death in Paradise Facebook group that showed Catherine's Bar and the Honore Harbour decorated with Christmas ornaments. They captioned the post: "Hello everyone, So it is Christmas time on the island.

"Ok, someone asked what's that, they have filmed the Christmas special, take care." Another fan bumped into Ralf Little's successor, Don Gilet, who will play the show's lead detective in the Christmas special and upcoming series.

"This is such a great show and we have seen every episode . . . always sad to lose a cast member/s yet always great to welcome a new one! Welcome DG, can't wait to see you in action!," another wrote.

A fellow Facebook user commented: "I can't wait to meet DI Mervin Wilson! Each new DI brings so much to the stories and Saint Marie!" Another said: "I’m so excited. I have loved getting to know all of the new characters. I just asked that he stays for a little longer!!!"

"Whoever it is l am sure we will warm to him all the others have been great in their own way and this is a great show l love it," another said. But another said: "I’d be quite happy for the two of them to finish touring and come back. I hate when they change."

"I can't wait to see what he brings to his character," wrote another. "I am glad to see Darlene is back," another fan commented.
