BBC weather presenter Tomasz Schafernaker has predicted things could quickly become "too hot" in the UK.

The cool weather we're experiencing at the moment is the topic of much conversation. From people begrudgingly having to switch their central heating on, to others asking when summer will begin.

Earlier this week, the Met Office said temperatures will remain below average over the next few days due to a northerly wind drawing air from the Arctic across the UK.

In a new post on X, formerly Twitter, Mr Schafernaker said: ""So, this chilly weather we're having is becoming a thing. It's the middle of June, everybody's talking about it. Dave in the street keeps asking me when summer's going to arrive. What's happening?"

He then added: "Look, we're only just ramping up towards summer. It's early days. We all know what our climate's like, we're famous for it. Even with a warming climate, we're still gonna have relatively cool spells every now and again, they are just going to happen less frequently.

"Just you wait. In a few weeks time we'll be complaining it's too hot".
