Home Under the Hammer saw Martin Roberts visit a run down mid-terrace house in Chiswick that was being auctioned off with a safety net of £700k. The three-bedroom property had been unkept for quite some time but offered brilliant floor space with lots of potential.

Martin was lost for words when he visited the upstairs of the mid-terrace and branded it "bizarre" as an old shower unit had been turned into a cupboard. The house also had an upstairs mezzanine area with a bed that looked over into a bedroom with raised questions about privacy.

Darren and Chloe purchased the house for £695k after it failed to be sold at auction. When host Martin asked the property developers why they were so keen to get their hands on the house it seemed the West London location played a huge part in the decision.

Chloe said: "I think the area was the main thing. It's such a beautiful place to live and we can just create an amazing family home."

The couple gave themselves a tight timescale of 16 weeks to get the work complete with a budget of £60k. Home Under the Hammer revisited the property five months later and the house had been completely transformed.

Darren and Chloe had used the downstairs floor space to create a stunning open-planned kitchen diner. They also converted the bedroom at the front of the house into a modern cosy snug.

On the first floor, they built a stylish master bedroom with an en suite along with a smaller bedroom which also had its own bathroom. Chloe and Darren also converted the mezzanine level into a secluded bedroom and en suite .

In December 2019, two local agents visited the redevelopment leaving them blown away. Both agents confirmed the property is worth over £1million.

Darren Chloe spent £815k on the property and renovations giving them a pre-tax profit of £185k on their min-terrace house in Chiswick.
