Sir Keir Starmer bowed out of the Sunday Brunch studio early this morning to ensure he gets to The Emirates Stadium on time to watch Arsenal's clash with Everton, which kicks off at 4pm. The 61-year-old Labour Party leader appeared on the Channel 4 series on Sunday morning (May 19) and even prepared a tandoori salmon dish live on air.

Hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer welcomed the politician to the show and took the opportunity to crack a joke. Tim asked Keir: "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be on the BBC with Laura Kuenssberg?".

Keir responded saying that he hoped Sunday Brunch would be "nicer" than the flagship politics show. He then daringly got stuck-in in the kitchen as he showed off his tandoori salmon recipe on the show while he chatted with Tim and Simon.

After preparing the dish, Keir sat down with the hosts to discuss Labour's policies ahead of the next general election. But, Tim couldn't resist dropping another gag.

He asked: "Final question, do you have anything on discrimination against bald blokes?", as Keir quickly replied with: "Nothing at all, nothing."

Looking very serious, Tim then stated: "Rishi does," as Keir and the hosts burst laughing. The Labour leader then confirmed he wouldn't be staying around for the duration of the show.

He made a swift exit for the studio, as he revealed he was going to watch his team Arsenal play Everton in a last bid to win the Premier League title, with Manchester City looking like the favourites to win for a fourth consecutive year.
