BBC mocked over incorrect Les Misérables promo
BBC One's forthcoming (song-less) adaptation of musical classic Les Misérables is undoubtedly one to look out for, but it seems that the broadcaster's marketing team might need a little more educating about the show before it actually airs.
Posting a new promo to Twitter featuring stars Lily Collins, David Oyelowo and Dominic West, the channel's recent announcement has received some backlash from fans.
See if you can spot the error.

Gotta heart full of love at these first look photos of @DominicWest (Jean Valjean), @lilycollins (Fantine) and David Oyelowo (Javier) in brand new drama #LesMisérables 🇫🇷 Coming soon to @BBCOne. pic.twitter.com/99mOXUB7x6

If you know you're Javier's from your Javert's, then you'll have spotted the mistake. Oyelowo's character's name was clearly misspelled in the tweet as it listed him as Javier, but it seemingly took reactionary fan posts for the BBC to even notice. Oops.

Guys, he literally screams 'DO NOT FORGET MY NAAAAME' in the musical. He'll be after you right as soon as he gets that pesky bread thief.

Guys, it’s Javert, not Javier 🤔

Javier?? Is this a new character or just sloppy work? @lesmisofficial fans will be horrified! 🤨

You mean Javert. Not Javier 😜

If his name is Javier I’ll put money on the BBC studios getting haunted by the ghost of Victor Hugo.

Les Mis is almost like a religion to some and this error was obviously not taken too lightly, but this wasn't the only face-palm moment active in the tweet, as pointed out by one astute follower.

Thought I should also mention that “gotta” is short for “got to” not “got a”... #Grammar #Awkward #NotImpressed pic.twitter.com/62VDlsr26I

The BBC proceeded to acknowledge their initial mistake though, posting an amusing gesture back onto the social media platform.
{% verbatim %}
We have heard the people sing, thanks for raising the red flag.
Javert.
Javert.
Javert.
We will never forget his name. https://t.co/AaYWXt5tgH pic.twitter.com/FaqV5D2RqB- BBC One (@BBCOne) July 16, 2018

2019's Les Mis will be a six-part adaptation written by Andrew Davies and also stars Olivia Coleman.
The broadcasting corporation have promised the show will "faithfully bring to life the vibrant and engaging characters, the spectacular and authentic imagery and, above all, the incredible yet accessible story that was [Victor] Hugo's lifework."
Les Misérables will air on BBC One in 2019.
